Fire Damage Restoration Services in California

What each job involves, how urgent it really is, and what to do before anyone arrives. The tag on each card is the honest answer on urgency — most of this can wait, and a couple of things cannot.

Every job, and how urgent it really is

Call today Emergency Board-Up Openings covered, roof tarped, the building made weather-tight and secure. This happens the same day, usually before anything else is even discussed. What to look for → Call today Soot Removal Soot is acidic. Left on metal, stone and finishes it etches them permanently within days, which is why the first cleaning visit matters even when the rebuild is weeks away. What to look for → This week Structural Cleaning and Strip-Out Framing, subfloor and the fabric behind the finishes. Where char has gone into structure it is assessed rather than cleaned, and that is an engineer's call. What to look for → This week Wildfire Damage A property that survived the fire but did not escape it — ash, embers in the attic, heat damage to siding and glazing, and smoke through a building that never burned. What to look for → This week Kitchen Fire Cleanup The most common fire in a home, and the one that leaves the hardest residue. Burnt cooking oil is a protein soot: nearly invisible, greasy, and it smells for months if it is cleaned wrong. What to look for → Call today Electrical Fire Cleanup A fire in a panel, a circuit or an appliance. Burnt plastics leave an acidic synthetic residue that attacks electronics and metal fast. What to look for → Can wait Fire Damage Repair and Rebuild Putting the building back — drywall, flooring, cabinetry, paint. The part where the claim becomes a schedule, and where most of the money and most of the delay live. What to look for →

Start from where you are

Each of these points at a different job, and getting it wrong wastes a visit.

The building is open to the weather

Board-up and roof cover first. Most policies expect you to prevent further loss. Emergency Board-Up →

Soot on walls and ceilings

Do not wipe it. Dry soot brushes off; wiping sets it into the finish. Soot Removal →

A fire near a burn area

Ash, embers in the attic, heat damage to glazing — even if nothing burned. Wildfire Damage →

A cooking fire

Small burn, greasy residue everywhere. It needs degreasing, not dry cleaning. Kitchen Fire Cleanup →

A panel or appliance fire

Burnt plastics are corrosive. Leave the circuits off until an electrician has been. Electrical Fire Cleanup →

Cleaning is done, now the rebuild

What actually costs you after a fire

The burn area is usually the smallest part of the loss. Smoke reaches rooms the flames never entered and settles heaviest above doorways and around vents, and the water used to put the fire out goes through the floors below it. A kitchen fire contained to one wall routinely leaves a whole house needing work.

The clock after a fire is chemical rather than biological. Soot is acidic: left on metal, stone and finished surfaces it etches them, and within days part of what could have been cleaned becomes replacement instead. That is why the first stabilising and cleaning visit matters even when the rebuild is weeks away.

The third thing, and the one most often missed, is that firefighting water is still in the structure while the fire claim is being priced. A building that is cleaned beautifully and never dried comes back as a mold job in a month.

So the useful first call is somebody who secures the building today, tells you what the residue actually is, and dries the water at the same time as cleaning the soot — rather than treating those as three separate jobs in sequence.

How it works

Three steps, and you decide at the end of them.

  1. 1

You call and describe the problem

Tell us what you have noticed and where — the room, the smell, the noise, how long it has been going on. Give us your ZIP code and we will match you to a licensed company covering your area. There is no form to fill in.

  2. 2

A local company takes it from there

They discuss the problem with you directly, arrange a time to inspect, and agree the work and the price with you before anything starts. That conversation is between you and them.

  3. 3

You decide whether to go ahead

You are under no obligation. If the quote or the approach is not what you wanted, you are free to say no and call someone else.

Find your town

What the work involves locally depends on where the ductwork is and how hard the system runs.
